It's been... interesting to say the least. My roommates have made it quite the experience. As is obvious, I'm sure.

[ He takes a cup and starts to blow over it, enjoying the aroma for now. ]

I'm unsure what to do with all this free time, if I'm being honest. I'd never had a chance like this, back home.

Very obvious. At least there are other places to go, right?

[ ... uh, it's very late, but... well, at least things seem to be relatively safe here. ]

... I know what you mean, though. I'm used to having so many things to do... I feel a bit at a loss.

Aye. Helps that I can get out and about. Not as quick as using an aetheryte, but it beats walking.

[ Do not get him started on magic, it's a long complicated talk that he's bad at explaining. But he at least takes a sip of the tea and finds it just right. It's actually too hot, but being a ruby means he inadvertently doesn't have to worry about that. ]

Right. I had the time, once, but... it was different. [ He shrugs. Let's leave it at that. ] There was little to do. Now it seems as though there's too much.

[ ... Aetheryte? She has no idea what that is, but if it weren't so late, she'd ask for an explanation. Instead, she nods. Time. It's something she's got too much of now, something she wishes she'd had more of with the people back in her world she'd loved.

A small number... but they'd filled all the spaces in her heart. Her hands curl around the cup, maybe too tight, but it helps to steady her. ]

It feels like... there's too much or too little, right? [ She lets out a sigh and looks up at the sky. There's Synchrony, but that's a whole other beast she doesn't know how to tackle. ] And there are only so many times you can take midnight walks around the gardens.

[ Ardbert nods, sipping more of his tea. He understands feeling trapped in time more than she can imagine, probably. But ever since regaining his body or coming back to life, whatever this is -- he's had the same thought.

Too much to do. If only he'd had this chance to see his friends again. If only... ]

Best thing I've found is to spend it with others.

[ He speaks from experience, and it shows. Maybe that's why he agreed to all this -- maybe that's what keeps him living with the Ascians after all. ]

Spend too long alone and you'll have only your own thoughts to keep you company.

[ That speaks to her in a way she's not willing to admit. Mira's never been good at being alone, even if she tries to claim otherwise. She's not good at it, but she's had no other choice before this place.

And now... even being here this brief time... she isn't sure she can go back. It kind of scares her, actually. She has to go back; she has so much to do. But it is so, so tempting to want to let down her guard. ]

Mm. I know a couple of things about that.

[ She's surprised at how easily she admits that. She takes a breath, and then, with a touch of teasing-- ]

I suppose it's a good thing it's so easy to meet new people... even if it's because of a text sent to the wrong person?

You too, eh? Sorry to hear it.

[ Trust me, Ardbert knows all about being alone. Too much, most likely. Ask him about it and it'll make you both sad, I'm sure. But he's just happy to talk, and at least have a kind face even this late at night. ]

It is, aye. Helps keep us connected, even if it's not with who we mean.
